Toxin Free Personal Care

Personal care was one of the very first things I switched to a more natural alternative, particularly fluoride free toothpaste and aluminum free deodorant. I found it easier than skincare for instance, which varies widely from brand to brand and depends highly on your skin type.

Given the rising concern about plastic and the need to preserve our planet, I have been investigating a lot lately about zero waste and more sustainable alternatives which I have included below. Dental care

Toothbrush - Product bamboo toothbrush. There are many sustainable toothbrush brands, make sure you choose a bamboo one.

Toothpaste - Brand Aloe Dent- Product triple action. Refreshing mint tootthpaste.

Zero waste solid toothpaste - Brand Georganics - The flavour and texture takes some getting used to, as it does not have the traditional flavour we might be used to.

Dental Floss - I love the natural silk dental floss, no brand preference. It works better than the conventional ones and uses beeswax.

Body care

BodyWash - Brand Jason - Very good and varied scents. Other more natural versions exist, though this is a great brand to start with as it is widely available. Tea tree oil is a great option.

Premium Body Wash - Brand Goop - Product Ashwagandha Energy Body Wash. Incredible revitalising and energising body wash, a great way to wake up. Love it as a weekend treat.

Cleanser - Brand Goop - Product GTox Marine Body Clay cleanser. Soothing hydrating body wash, lovely way to wrap up your day.

Body Cream - Brand Shova De - Product Body Cream. Extremely hydrating, hence why it might take a little extra time to apply. Very small quantity needed.

Body Sunscreen - Brand Laboratories Biarritz - Product 50+ Spray Solaire. This is the best body sunscreen I have found in my local health store, I am still investigating alternatives. Watch this space.

Personal care

Deodorants are quite a tricky product when it comes to switching to a more natural alternative, as traditional chemical deodorants include ingredients that make the effects of deodorants last longer.

I have tried a wide range of roll ons over the years and have concluded that it is best to option. My favourite one so far is Agent Nateur, as the more traditional roll ons run out extremely fast.

My top choice - Brand Salt & Stone - Product Bergamot Hinoki - This is my favourite brand so far and it has several scents available. The price is high but it lasts much longer than other cheaper brands.

Premium Deodorant -  Brand Agent Nateur - Product No. 3. Amazing deodorant, very little product needed, odourless and long lasting.

Daily Deodorant - Brand Urtekram- Product Fragrance Free Deodorant. Brand widely available in health stores, lasts less than traditional deodorants though it is a good place to start.

Sanitary products

Menstrual Cup - Brand Iriscup - Menstrual cup. My preferred choice over the traditional tampons and pads. It is definitely a more sustainable and inexpensive alternative.

Cotton tampons - Brand Natracare - Product comes in the usual intensities (regular, plus, super plus). More sustainable sanitary option.

Sanitary pads - Brand Organy - A more sustainable alternative to conventional brands.

Spa rituals at home

Body Scrub - Brand Natura Siberica- Product Sauna & Spa Cedar Body Peeling Salt. Amazing natural body scrub that will make you feel like you are at a spa.

Bath salts - Brand Goop - Product G.Tox Detox Salt Bath Soak. Great detox salt to use after a stressful day.

Aromatherapy oil - Brand Uma - Product Pure Rest Wellness oil. Smell some droplets of this natural oil and sleep like a baby. Amazing brand with many different oils.
